Jeff Scroggins and Colorado
Their unique style is immediately recognizable thanks to the unique and diverse influence of Jeff, who was twice national banjo champion Jeff Scroggins. His incendiary style and lightning-filled licks earned him worldwide recognition and left many listeners who first heard him in stunning disbelief! The band also has an award-winning mandolin playing the son of Jeff Tristan Scroggins: Come from a completely different generation, both in musical and life terms, Tristan brings to the band his own individual sound and musical perspective. At the age of just 20, Tristan is an award-winning instrumentalist and talented songwriter, while the instruments he shares with Jeff play a major role in the band’s unique and energetic style. Completing this experience, West Virginia-born Greg Blake delivers powerful bluegrass vocals imbued with rustic heritage, bringing a truly authentic sound created throughout life by singing bluegrass, gospel and country. Twice nominated for the SPBGMA “Traditional male vocalist of the year” award, Greg’s phenomenal guitar playing brought him nine nominations and five consecutive victories as SPBGMA guitarist of the year. In addition to their individual achievements, the band was recognized as one of the “Six New Discoveries” of No Depression magazine, standing next to famous great people, including Bela Fleck, Abigail Washburn and Danny Paisley.
